According to the latest Nonprofit Employment Trends Survey, a majority of nonprofit organizations (64 percent) do not have at least one staff member who exclusively manages staffing and/or human resources. In the same survey 81 percent of organizations agreed the HR function is critical to their organization’s ability to achieve its mission. But small organizations were less likely than medium sized and large organizations to report that the HR function is important to their organization. Why is this? Why is there a correlation between an organization’s size and its opinion of the importance of human resources? Join our panel of executive directors in a discussion of HR’s role in small to medium sized nonprofits. Packed full of resources and strategies, this session will show how small organizations can obtain the benefits of a strong HR function even if they don’t have resources necessary for a full-time department. 


Speaker Bio

Lisa Brown Morton, is President & CEO of Nonprofit HR Solutions, a human resources consulting firm dedicated to serving the needs of nonprofit organizations. She is a consultant and facilitator with more than twenty-one years of human resources management experience working with nonprofit and for-profit organizations.

Her areas of expertise include organizational culture and development and employee relations and engagement. She has designed and implemented a broad range of human resources programs and policies tailored to the specific needs and culture of nonprofit organizations.

Lisa holds certification as Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Certification Institute of the Society for Human Resources Management, and received her undergraduate education in business management from Howard University.
